OTHER WORK

Freelance work has included appraising records of the former Mother & Babies home at Beacon Lodge, East Finchley for transfer to London Metropolitan Archives. I was also Research Associate for an Institute of Advanced Legal Studies legal records project, and worked on the Black Dance Archives project to survey archives and records relating to UK black dance.

From 2004-2006 I was Project Officer for Access to Mineral Heritage, a Coal Authority-funded initiative to provide website access to descriptions of UK mining and mineral records held in archives, libraries, museums and elsewhere.

Before that post I was Research Team Manager for the
Mersey Gateway Project (2002-2003), a digitisation scheme to make 20,000 items from Merseyside repositories available online.

I have also appraised records for The Institution of Chemical Engineers and The National Brewery Centre, and worked on a Cycling Touring Countryside Trust pilot survey of cycling archives.
During 2001 I worked for the Archives & Records Association on a survey of specialist repositories in England.

I have been a volunteer for several organisations including Coventry Archives, Rugby Art Gallery & Museum, Rugby Theatre Trust, and Northampton Diocesan Archives. I have worked as an editor for the Community Archives & Heritage Group website, and for the Archives & Records Association, the Business Archives Council of the North and the Society of Archivists Specialist Repositories Group newsletters.

Current voluntary work includes being a Trustee for the Lanchester Trust.
